Inspired by Joseph Cornell’s curated box and the notion of transcending physical boundaries, One Balcony reflects a personal journey through time and memory. Drawing from elements of my past and symbolic objects with deep personal significance, the curated box becomes a vessel that encapsulates the forces shaping my identity. In the four-dimensional space we exist, the box—a three-dimensional space—splits into three parts: The outside symbolizes the future, the box represents the past, and the inside contains the present. Together, these layers evoke the intertwined relationship between memory and the continuous flow of existence.
The Chinese title of this project, "一一的阳台," is derived from the name my father originally intended to give me. The translation of “一一” signifies "the one" or "the only."
