Three Seconds Passed

This project is a meditation on memory—its fragments, its subjectivity, and its power to connect us across time and relationships. In Wisława Szymborska’s View with a Grain of Sand, she implies that for each individual, the way we describe an object may differ, and the meaning we assign to it varies greatly—even our perception of time itself is no exception. Quoted from her poem, the title Three Seconds Passed echoes this notion, emphasizing how fleeting moments become tangible only through the act of perception. This profound detachment mirrors the way memories are constructed: deeply personal, filtered by emotion, and shaped as much by what we see as by what we imagine others see.

Three seconds passed—how do we make peace with the moments we’ve shared, knowing they will inevitably fade? Reflecting on mundane yet deeply meaningful memories, those fleeting traces, this project invites viewers to linger in the space between perspectives. By layering my reflections with glimpses of my grandma's imagined gaze, I explore the quiet, unspoken bonds that exist across generations. It is within these gaps—between what is seen and what is remembered—that the essence of memory resides.
